Mr. Billy Joe Hudson, age 78, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Monday, December 5th, 2011.  His funeral will be at 2 PM on Friday, December 9th, 2011 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and his family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM just prior to the hour of service.  Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park with full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team. 

Born February 14th, 1933 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Hudson was the son of the late William Hudson and Gertrude Hathcock Hudson.  He was a graduate of Kings Business School of Charlotte, NC and a retired Farmer and Cattleman.  He was also a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC, formerly associated with the Stanly County Saddle Club and the Stanly County Cattlemens Association, and a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Lowder Hudson; two brothers; and one sister.  He is survived by two sons, Bruce Edwin Hudson and wife Cheryl of Albemarle, NC and Steve Howard Hudson and wife Lori of Badin, NC; two daughters, Jenell Delores Hudson and husband Mike of Raleigh, NC and Ellen Hudson Holweg and husband Darryl of Six Mill, SC; one sister, Viola Truette of Albemarle, NC; and eight grandchildren: Jason Ratterree, Travis Ratterree, Alex Ratterree, Nathan Hudson, Clay Hudson, Alec Hudson, Joshua Hudson, and Jacob Holweg.
