Betty Jean Poplin Turner, 78, formerly of Mauldin Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Saturday, August 15th, 2009 at ForrestOakesHealthcareCenter in Albemarle, NC. Her funeral will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 17th, 2009 at the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Her family will receive friends prior to the hour of the service from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. Rev. Randy Powell will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Born January 20th, 1931 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Willie Ray Poplin and Grace Opal Carpenter Poplin and was retired from the Albemarle City School System as an administrative assistant to the Superintendent. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC. She was married to the late George Ray Turner who preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons: Gregg Turner of Oakboro, NC and Michael Turner of Albemarle, NC; and one sister: Billie Kay Thompson of New Salem, NC.
