Betty A. Morton, age 77, of Albemarle, NC, formerly of Oakboro, NC, passed away on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 at Bethany Woods Nursing Center in Albemarle, NC.  Her funeral will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and her family will receive friends from 12 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the hour of service.  Rev. Dr. Terrell Watts and Mr. Chip alsobrooks will officiate and burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery.  

Born September 11th, 1934 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Morton was the daughter of the late Richard Earl Aldridge, Sr. and Florence Elizabeth Little Aldridge.  She was a retired employee of Tuscarora Yarns, Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, NC and a member of Oakboro First Baptist Church in Oakboro, NC.  she was active in WMU and the Choir as long as her health permitted.  She was very thoughtful in her card ministry, sending cards to those that were sick.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bobby Junior Morton; three sons: Bobby M. Morton of Oakboro, NC, Richard Morton of Oakboro, NC, and Barry E. Morton of Albemarle, NC; four daughters: Cathy M. Christy of Albemarle, NC, Barbara Jo Morton of Albemarle, NC, Jane M. Furr of Oakboro, NC, and Brenda M. Tucker of Richfield, NC; one brother, Richard Earl Aldridge, Jr. of Badin, NC; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
