Betty Sue Drye Hathcock, 72, of 40862 Mt. View Church Road in Albemarle, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 at Stanly Regional Hospital. Her family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be at 3 PM on Sunday, July 26th, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Wayne Richardson will officiate and burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.
Born June 16, 1937 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Hathcock was the daughter of the late Hugh and Selma Hall Drye and a graduate of New London High School. She was an employee of Total Care and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was very active. She loved coastal fishing, gardening, and her grandchildren.
She was married to the late D. Bain Hathcock, Sr. She is survived by one son, Todd W. Hathcock and wife Darlene of Locust, NC; two daughters, Sue H. Pickler and husband Paul of Albemarle, NC and Trina H. Ingold and husband Brian of New London, NC; four sisters, Johnsie Herlocker, Jean Thompson, Vivian Sinclair, and Sherry Hudson; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Pickler; one brother, Richard Glenn Drye; and one great-grandchild.
