Betty Frances Chandler Harkey, 84, of 923 East Main Street, Albemarle, NC passed away on Friday, October 29th, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC. Her graveside service will be at 2 PM on Monday, November 2nd, 2009 at Fairview Memorial Park. Rev. Tony Allen will officiate.
Born September 23rd, 1925 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Harkey was the daughter of the late George Washington and Nola Hinson Chandler and was the former director of the Stanly County Mental Health Association. She was a member of North Albemarle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Gaston Harkey, Sr.; two sons: Walter Gaston Harkey, Jr. and wife, Gay, of Norwood, NC and Kent Chandler Harkey and wife, Edna Lipe-Harkey, of Albemarle, NC; and four grandchildren.
