Betty Jean Blalock Almond, age 72, of 42025 Gurley Road, New London, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her graveside funeral will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Palestine Cemetery. Rev. David Nolan will officiate.

Born December 20th, 1937 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Genie Lanier Blalock and was a retired restaurant cook with Fast Stop in New London and the Yum-Yum Shop. She was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond C. Almond; daughter, Darlene Almond McCabe and husband Bob of New London, NC; four step-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Loyd Blalock, and two sisters, Ruby Watkins and Rosa Lee Mullis.
