Ms. Bertha Lois Ray, age 72, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Monday, September 19th, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  Her Memorial Service will be at 2 PM on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 at Stony Hill United Methodist Church and Rev. Lanny Lancaster will officiate.  There will be no formal visitation. 

Born January 27th, 1939 in Harnett County, NC, Mrs. Ray was the daughter of the late Bruce and Bertha Rosser Ray and received her Bachelor Degree and Master Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She was employed as a Home Economics Teacher in the Stanly County Schools, an employee of Stanly County Social Services, Retired Director of Montgomery County Social Services, and a Hospice of Stanly County Social Worker and Care Team Coordinator.  She was also a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church where she was very active for over 40 years serving as a former Choir Director, Organist, and Pianist.

Ms. Ray is survived by one sister, Virgie Bingham of Greensboro, NC and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
