Benny Allen, 61, of 470 Coggins Mine Road, Troy, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 20th, 2009 at his home. His Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at the Love Joy United Methodist Church in Troy, NC. His family and friends will meet at the home at 3 PM Sunday prior to leaving for the Memorial Service at the church. Rev. Tommy Haynes will officiate.
Born September 1, 1947 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Allen was the son of the late Walter Bennett and Lillian Blalock Allen and a 1965 graduate of South Stanly High School. He was a retired employee of the North Carolina Department of Corrections and was a member of Love Joy United Methodist Church of Troy, NC. He was a former coach and umpire of Little League Baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Byrd Allen; two sons: Kenneth Allen of Troy, NC and Scott Allen of Raleigh, NC; one sister: Faye Allen Blalock of Norwood, NC; and three grandchildren: Jordan Allen, Zack Allen, and Jake Allen.
